So, hello to everyone who friended me at mayfield_rpg ! All... two of you, I think. Hahah |D ♥ But I think this is the thing to do anyway, making an intro. And hey, maybe some people on my FList will learn new things anyway. Sorry it's so late. orz

I'm Des! I'm 22 years old, live in San Diego, currently my major is undecided although it used to be theater. Still, I could get my associate's now if I wanted to, but I'm not going to yet.

Since I am currently unemployed, I waste all of my free time contributing to fandom - mainly RPing but sometimes I deviate into fan art and other things. However my most well-known contribution to any fandom was the shrine to Hao's pants I made when I was like 15 or something. ... I keep telling myself I should finish it someday, but then I wonder what the point would be in updating after 7 years. If I'm going to do that, I should wait 3 more years and make it a 10-year-anniversary kind of thing...

... So as you can see, I also like to ramble and get off on tangents. My AIM is Macrocosm Says if you want to get off on tangents together!

And I guess that's it.
I've reconnected with several online friends. I don't think any of my rekindled online relationships have been superficial... well maybe one or two.

With Zilon and I, the connection wasn't ever really lost that much. We were just going separate paths - she was absorbed in an MMO, and I wasn't, so we didn't talk to each other for a few years. But now that we've reconnected to work on our project, our bonds have deepened a lot.

In the case of Suka and PR, it was really a huge relief. We don't talk as much, but it means a lot to me that we were able to be friends again, on any level.

Put thumbtacks on the chair therof:
4. Have a crush on:
5. Pack up and leave if they moved next door:
6. Vote for President:
7. Wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

and then!

o1. Grab the nearest book.
o2. Open the book to page 23.
o3. Find the fifth sentence.
o4. Post the text of the next five sentences in your journal along with these instructions:
--Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
--Tag five other people to do the same.

"So now that I have a seer on my side, you can look into the future and find the tea!"
"Actually, to predict the future, I have to look at the remains in the bottom of a teacup, and do readings on the shapes that they make. So you see..."
"You need tea to find the tea, huh?"
"But we're in luck - amongst the people in the party, I read someone's mind and they were thinking about how to smuggle tea...lots of tea."

The closest book was my personal notebook. '-' So I guess I'll explain... in this story, one of my characters, Magnus, was in a high school class had to write about where he saw himself in 20 years, or something like that. And so he starts writing this farcical James Bond-like story about himself on a mission for the Prime Minister of Britishland to catch a villain who stole all the tea in the world. The character is pretty hyper and ADD so the script is fast-paced, stupid fun.

Tagging whoever wants to do it.

But besides that, he seems to be really soft-spoken and laid-back, but, without being unconfident or a sissy. I also think he has a good sense of humor, but the kind that wouldn't get annoying. I think he has the right balance of seriousness, and probably has the most in common with me out of the three. ... And my dad would likely be thrilled if I married him, cause he's Spock. And I really like his eyes and I think he has the best choice in clothing... cause he's sort of into fashion, I hear.

Lee Pace - c...cliffed oh my god I'msosorry. 8D;

Aiiigh. Lee is so humble and so nice, he seems like such a softie. I don't think he would survive being married to me, and as for a quick shag... I dunno, he doesn't seem like a one-night stand kind of guy, he looks so shy. So I'd either be misleading or taking advantage of him somehow, and I'd feel so guilty. I feel really guilty about cliffing him too though... cause. HOW CAN YOU SERIOUSLY CLIFF THAT!? But uh. I'm going to say that it's a small cliff overlooking a big deep lake and it was done playfully. 8Dv

Josh Holloway - Shagged

Josh is the funniest person out of the three, and laughter's an aphrodisiac. I think he'd be really charming, despite the fact that I'm not huge on his looks or accent, but neither of those is a deal breaker since I like his personality a lot. But he seems less artsy and geeky than Zach, so I'd probably have less in common with him. He'd probably get less fun over time, so, I'll just hit that. I think he'd be cool with it.

Post the text of the next five sentences in your journal along with these instructions:
--Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
--Tag five other people to do the same.

Aheh.

All of my books are on a book shelf an equal distance away from the door.... and textbooks so don't count. So. Here is a clip from the closest book, that was not manga, a dictionary, or for school. (But if manga counts, the quote is "GAG WIND!")

"At eleven o'clock the phone rang, and still the figure did not respond, any more than it had responded when the phone had rung at twenty-five to seven in the morning, again at twenty to seven, again at ten to seven, and again for ten minutes continuously starting at five to seven, after which it had settled into a long and significant silence, disturbed only by the braying of police sirens in a nearby street at around nine o'clock, the delivery of a large eighteenth-century dual manual harpsichord at around nine fifteen, and the collection of same by bailiffs at a little after ten."

dear god, that was the longest sentence ever. what the hell, Adams.

Incidentally, the quote WAS from my favorite book, "The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul."

I am tagging Courtney, Chi, Cruzle, Keii, and Kal.

Con report deux

Well, the Boba place was never open in the mornings, and the rest of the con, we stayed out much too late to want to bother to update, so I didn't get to update every night like I'd originally thought.

Friday was just me and Chi because Kal went to Universal Studios with her dad. The day was mostly spent shopping and wandering around. We went to artist alley and I picked up some cute Kingdom Hearts stationary paper. Actually, most of my purchases for this day were KH-related. I have a heartless shirt and hat and a nobody shirt too. The highlight of Friday took place from 11PM - 3PM, which was the Ultimate Karaoke Fighting Challenge!!

This was basically a singing tournament, where they made you sing random songs that you may or may not know while your opponent tried to distract you and they threw any number of silly tasks in that you also had to do. Chi was thwarted because they made her do Wii Fit while singing, so even Hare Hare Yukai could not rescue her and she dropped out in the first round. I, however, smoked my opponent <strike>Juan</strike> Ivan because my category was video game music. I rocked FFX's "Otherworld", he had to sing some thing from Katamari Damacy that he didn't know.

The Distraction challenge round was not something me or Chi participated in, but it was possibly the most epically funny thing I have ever seen. Imagine a man calling himself Steven Segall and trying to sing "Ride on Shooting Star" while one of the judges ties his shoelaces together and chases him around the stage while his opponent, a chesty blonde girl, bumps and grinds against him and someone else keeps unscrewing his microphone so he has to keep grabbing new ones and actually manages to rock the song. I REALLY wish I had a camcorder for this entire competition. We were dying all throughout it. 8D Steven got bumped out by the girl who beat Chi, but I'm glad for that.

As for me, a few rounds later, I was making paper wings to sing Catch You Catch Me, and then throwing flashing ducks at a Fate/Stay Night cosplayer to screw up her Cruel Angel's Thesis. Yeah, Saber was quite good and a fan favorite, but I beat her, so I'm proud of that. In the end, I got second place, so I won some obscure DVDs and manga. Gave Chi the manga so she could read it on the plane - we'll see how I like "Shadow Star Narutaru."

Saturday, I cosplayed as Near and Kal was Mikami. We had another air hockey battle - I won this time! And... well, we got it filmed, buuuut I lost that camera at the Nakagawa Shoko concert. (;_; Please find my camera, Con Ops.) Shokotan was awesome though. She cosplayed a bunch of different characters while singing - she was Yoko while singing Sorairo Days and Happily Ever After, of course, and pimped Gurren Lagann a whole lot. I got to hear what the English VAs sound like - not bad, really. Kamina's voice is a lot higher than I'm used to, but I think he can deliver the lines. He was also the MC for the Masquerade!

There was a Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei skit group, who I thought was the best of the night.

"I'M IN DESPAIR! ANIME EXPO BEING HELD IN DOWNTOWN LA HAS LEFT ME IN DESPAIR!"

"Oh, look! A purse snatcher! D:"

"That's not a purse snatcher! :D He's just holding her stuff so she can pose for pictures! Isn't that considerate?"

"Agh, it's a shooting!! D8"

"No, no! That's not a shooting! He just saw how hot her costume was, so he wanted to provide some ventilation! :D"

After that, Kal and I made B coffee and drank it together, then took the remaining sugar cubes to find L cosplayers to give them to. I also gave out huge chocolate bars to Mello cosplayers, because I was an utter retard and forgot to bring all 10 of them when I was dressed as him. TT; Needless to say, we got a lot of hugs and lovin' and pictures of cosplayers posing with snack food. We are keeping this as a picture-getting strategy in the future. Free sugar makes everyone a lot friendlier!

There was also an L orgy that had to get broken up by security - "This is a public venue! D8" Death Note cast pisses off security all week. Fuahahaha. We ended the day with DN as well, as the three of us watched the finale together in Kal's hotel room and then said our goodbyes to each other. So it really was a finale for our time together.... T^T orz D: D: D:

Sunday, Chi and I packed, played Okage: Shadow King in our hotel for a while, I went on a last-minute shopping spree, and then we watched Whose Line Is It Anime. Pretty funny, but nothing terrifically quotable that I remember, at least nothing that you'd get if you weren't there.

So, that's it! It was a blast and I can't wait until next year.

CON REPORT. >D

This whole day was awesome. From sharing the hotel room with Chi to walking around the con with her and Kal, I can't believe it's only the first day! This shit is going to go on all week?! Eeeeee *_*

Well, today Kal and I were Wammies - I was younger Mello and she was ... well, Near doesn't dress any different when he's younger, but. We are incredibly awesome cosplayers. Spent a great deal of time hating on each other, I failed at walling her because she was wearing a backpack, and then we pissed off some security guards by roughhousing too much. IC Near vs Mello air hockey was epic. Weird machine though, it ended our game when the score was tied! Maybe it was on a time limit. I suppose it was fitting though.

I didn't make it to the AX Idol finals, but I'm happy with the job that I did. Considering I hadn't practiced at all. None of the judges had any critique for me, so I was good, but just not the BEST. There's always next year!

After AX Idol we split up with Chi, and me and Kal made a precarious tower out of Death Note figurines ("Death Note Jenga!" as a passerby named it) while waiting for the showing of "L Change the WorLd." Definitely a movie made for the L fans - I wasn't really fangasming as much as the rest of the audience, but it had a decent story and plenty of funny moments, so I have no complaints.

We got lost a LOT. Chi and I started the day off by getting lost, and we ended the day getting lost looking for some ice cream vending machine which we never found. Vic Micnogna is staying in Kal's hotel.

Purchases were goggles and half of the Death Note figures. Will probably wear the goggles tomorrow.

The Boba place across from our hotel has free internet, so we plan on coming back here to upload our con pictures and make AX posts. We'll keep you posted!

also, if you ever go to an anime con, yell "Believe it!!" once in a while. The reactions you get are hilarious.

Dear Tim Burton:

Paxie and I have decided that you really ought to make a stop-motion movie out of Yu-Gi-Oh! We're sure it would be a major hit with your fan base. '_' After perusing your Wikipedia page and seeing what actors you like to use, here is our suggestion of a possible cast and our reasons as to why.

Yugi should be played by Deep Roy, because Deep Roy is a midget.

Seto should be played by Michael Gough, because he was in Doctor Who and Seto is a nerd.

Tea should be played by Jan Hooks, because just look at her Wikipedia picture. I can feel the friendship speech!

Joey should be played by Paul Reubens, because it doesn't get much funnier than that.

Tristan should be played by Michael Keaton, just because.

Bakura should be played by Christopher Lee, because Christopher Lee is British and evil.

Mai Valentine should be played by Winona Ryder, because she has a nicer rack than Helena we think.

Mokuba should be played by Helena Bonham Carter, because Helena should be in the movie even if Winona's rack is nicer.

And finally, Pegasus should be played by Johnny Depp, because somehow nobody else was interesting or purple enough.

.....Anyway. Please make this movie, Tim. :) The world would be a better place.

So hey, I know plenty of people on my F-List like Death Note, so I'm gonna give this a shot. '-'

I'm thinking of starting a DN RP on LJ. It would be AUcrack. With PIRATES.

I tried it once on Gaia and it didn't work out so well, 'cause, well... Gaia.

It is the Age of Exploration for the Island Nations of Mu. There are two nations present in Mu; The Luken Kingdom and the Nura Kingdom. Sailors from all walks of life take to the seas, for thrills, fortune, and glory. But there is one fortune that could change the course of the world:

The Death God’s Treasure.

Many a yarn has been told about the Death God’s Treasure. They say the treasure is so large, that it’s not hidden on an island – it IS the island. It is an island-sized treasure trove. They also say that he who holds the treasure is blessed – and cursed – with the powers of Death.

So what happens when a small pirate crew comes across a map to this place? Captain Mihael Keehl has just made such a discovery. Determined to find the Death God’s Treasure, he and his first mate, M. Jeevas, set a course for adventure.

But they’re not the only ones.

Captain Nate River, Keehl’s eternal rival at sea, has recently obtained a Letter of Marque and become a Privateer – gaining power and ships from the King of Nura, and becoming Commodore River. Having gotten wind of Keehl’s current ambition, they too are heading for the treasure.

There’s also Commodore Mikami, the head of the Luken Imperial Navy who has been pursuing the both of them for several years, and His Royal Highness Light Yagami, the Prince of Luken who swiftly enlisted into the Navy to avoid an arranged marriage to Lady Misa Amane. Wanting only the attention of her betrothed, Amane also fled to the sea, becoming a lady pirate in the hopes that Yagami would pursue her.

Last but not least are the wild cards, the feared GHOST Pirates, lead by Captain Lawliet (and his FIRST MATE, MR. WAMMY! there are you happy Akito) Nobody knows what they’re after because they’re damn mysterious, but it can be assumed that they have an interest in the Death God’s Treasure and in making trouble for pirate and navy alike.

But yeah! Would anyone want to do this with me? '-' Comment please if you're interested or if you just want to tell me I'm nuts. :P If there's some interest, we can talk about starting!

Also, the plot can stand for some re-doing if there are better ideas out there to add and whatnot.

Save for the one that I recently made that just amuses me, all of my icons are now of Des. BECAUSE I WAS NARCISSIST ENOUGH TO HAVE A WHOLE FOLDER SAVED OF THEM.
Well, that was an experience, certainly.

Back from my party after being passed out for god knows how long, but although it would be perfectly reasonable, Des does not have a hangover. My head's still spinning just a tiny bit, but otherwise I'm completely fine. I had at least three shots each of Grand Marnier, Peppermint Schnapps and Apple Pucker, plus however much of that other freaking thing. It was my first time getting hammered, happened a lot faster than people seemed to expect, but I'm not really surprised at all. It was pretty funny for me because I was totally aware of how much I was slurring my words together. There's a point where I don't remember at all what happened, but judging by the pictures I'm pretty glad that I don't, it was basically a lot of me throwing up and being a zombie. I only remember the good stuff, therefore I would say it was a success!

I must've been a pretty boring drunk for my friends though. Sorry guys. But you still have my pie that we didn't get around to eating, so give it back. D:< (I think we just forgot about it.) We'll watch that movie some other time. Or never. Whichever works!

Anyway, after that I don't really plan on getting seriously drunk again, but I can say that I've done it now, and light drinks from now on will be nice. I still have maybe a third of the Marnier left, but who knows when I'll finish it off. All in all, it was pretty satisfying.

Presents list:

Death Note magnets
Invader Zim figurine and throw blanket (curling up in it while typing this.)
chocolate
4 lbs of red licorice
new mp3 player (though mom is replacing it because she realized it had less GB than my old one)
$61, total
gift certificate to some nail place (I want to get a manicure so I can learn to put in contacts without fear of stabbing my eye out with my ridiculously long and jagged fingernails, hopefully my blink reflex will be more easy to control)
MYSTERY PACKAGE that my aunt in Maryland told me she mailed today. (procrastinator!)

I also bought a Gurren Lagann action figure for myself, still waiting for that to come in the mail, as well as Death Note: How to Read and Another Note - The Los Angeles BB Murder Case, which I finished in one night. Mello's narration, especially the intro, was the secks. I never call anything 'the secks', but THAT? Yes. Naomi Misora, you are made of epic win and I will never call you minor again. Beyond Birthday, your name is stupid and you're a crazy fucker, but I somehow love you anyway. Against my will. Definitely recommend this novel for Death Note fans (though as a murder mystery, it was pretty lame.)

And that's the jist of it. I'm going to go take a shower, as I'm fairly certain I stink of the night's events. Maybe I'll go back to bed, but maybe not. I'm actually pretty peppy for fuckin' 6 in the morning.

But also because it won't shut up. I am going to find some wildlife protection guys to take it to safety, but for now it is annoying my family members. We jacked an abandoned nest from above the stepdad's door so it can have a bed. Once it hops out of it, I'll take pictures. You are The Wild Rose.

Prone to bouts of cynicism, sarcasm, and thorns, you excite a certain kind of man. Hoping to gather you up, he flirts and winks and asks you out, ultimately professing his love. Then you make him bleed. Why? Because you're the rare, independent, self-sufficient kind of woman who does want love, but not from a weakling.

You don't seem to take yourself too seriously, and that's refreshing. You aren't uptight; you don't over-plan. Romance-wise, sex isn't a top priority--a true relationship would be preferable. For your age, you haven't had a lot of bonafide love experience, though, and this kind of gets to core of the issue. You're very selective.

The problem is them, not you, right? You have lofty standards that few measure up to. You're out there all right, but not to be picked up by just anyone.

Your exact female opposite:

The Dirty Little Secret

Deliberate Gentle Sex Master

Always avoid: The Bachelor (DGSM)

Consider: The Vapor Trail (RBLM)

Link: The Online Dating Persona Test | OkCupid - free online dating | Dating
